Our Kids Had a Blast
Our kids LOVED the host of inflatables that were on display this morning. We are continuing to build our winter wonderland for our students. Thank you to parents who placed their inflatable on loan and to those who donated. We’ll continue this new Silverbrook tradition for years to come.
Office ClosedOur front office will be on a modified schedule during winter break. Our office will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10am-12pm. Office will be closed on the following dates, December 25th, December 26th and January 1st.
🔢 Virtual Math Week: Save the DateGet ready for Virtual Math Week from Monday, January 8, through Friday, January 12. Save the date for a week filled with stories, games, and math activities, in English and Spanish. This virtual math activity is for families with students in kindergarten through eighth grade. This is a free experience designed to make math fun for the whole family. Learn more about FCPS Math Week.
🔢 Semana Virtual de las Matemáticas: Reserva la fechaPrepárate para la Semana Virtual de las Matemáticas del lunes 8 al viernes 12 de enero. Reserve la fecha para una semana llena de historias, juegos y actividades matemáticas, en Inglés y Español, para familias con estudiantes de kindergarten a octavo grado.
Esta es una experiencia gratis diseñada para hacer las matemáticas divertidas para toda la familia. Aprenda más sobre la Semana de Matemáticas de FCPS.
South County Middle School Academic Advising for Rising 7th Grade Families:January 18th at 9:00 am: SCMS Counselors visit Elementary Schools to review course options and the selection process.
January 23rd: Curriculum Night 6:00-7:30pm
Families will have the opportunity to learn about course options for the 2024-2025 school year and meet with our elective teachers, counselors, and administrators. There will also be an informational session offered to learn about the math options in middle school and one on course offerings for general education, honors, AAP, ESOL, and SPED at South County MS.
Jan. 29th at 9:30 am: Elementary schools visit SCMS to learn more about elective options.
Feb. 16th: Elementary School students return course selection forms.
CogATDear Parents of Students Who Took the CogAT Assessment this Fall,
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) Score reports were sent home in student backpacks today. Additionally, these scores will be available in SIS ParentVue in the upcoming weeks.

Principal and Parent’s Coffee ChatWe would like to invite parents, guardians, and caregivers in for a Principal and Parent's Coffee Chat. The purpose of the coffee is to take time for us to get to know each other better and respond to questions you may have. If you have specific questions for the administrators of Silverbrook, place your question or wondering on this form and we will respond to your inquiry during our coffee time.
The following dates are designated for our coffee chats:
- Principal/Parent Coffee Chat
- Friday, January 19 @ 9:30-10:30 in the library
- Friday, February 16@ 9:30-10:30 in the library
- Monday, April 15 @ 6:30-7:30 in the library
We collected 263 items in the toy drive! In addition, we were able to fulfill the specific requests from over 70 families. Special thanks to Lisa Hull and her FUNdraising operation supporting our Toy Drive, we couldn't have been so successful without her! LCAC was super grateful!
