English Language Arts Strategies

Outcome

  • By June 2024, 53% (10% increase) of students grades 1-3 will demonstrate on grade-level reading ability as measured by the iReady (Spring 2023 was 48% on this metric)
  • By June 2024, 73% (10% increase) of students will demonstrate within year growth measured by the iReady assessment (Spring 2023 was  66% on this metric)
  • By June 2024, 91% (5% increase) of students in grade 3 will receive a passing score on the SOL/VAAP (Spring 2023 was 86% on this metric).

Strategies

  • Expand use of skills-based grouping to ensure students demonstrate mastery of foundational skills. 
  • Increase intentional use of scaffolds, supports and extensions in whole group settings.

Mathematics Strategies

Outcome

  • By June 2024, we will increase the number of students making growth grades 4-6 who did not pass the Spring Math 2023 SOL/VAAP by 10% (39%) (Currently, 33% of students who did not pass the SOL achieved expected growth progress as measured by SOL/VAAP)
  • By June 2024, 65% of our students grades 1-6 will demonstrate expected within year growth in math as measured by the iReady assessment. 
  • By June 2024, 88% of our students grades K-6 will meet the Spring math benchmark in EMAS/iReady.

Strategies

  • Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention. 
  • Schedule ESOL teacher push-in ELD instruction during math instructional time.

 

Academic Growth and Excellence Strategies

Outcome

By the end of SY 2023-2024, 100% of grade 2 and 3 students and staff will demonstrate understanding of creative and critical thinking skills and all specialist will demonstrate growth in their understanding of POG practices as measured by the POG POL Rubric Form.  

Strategies

  • Students will build their skills in reflecting and identifying real evidence of growth.
  • Set regular times for students to reflect on how they used skills across subjects.
