Thank you for attending BTSN. We hope you found the evening informative. Please use this link to provide feedback.

Early Release Monday

We are asking ALL parents/guardians to complete the Early Release Survey. We must have all students accounted for and a decision from you on how to proceed with your student. Please access the QR code or https://forms.gle/6BwCW1JzVvi2SLNa8 to submit your response by September 1.

If you have submitted a preference for your child, you do not need to resubmit. If you have submitted a “I don’t know” or “Haven’t made a decision” please resubmit with a decision so your child is accounted for. We have less than half of our student body accounted for. Thanks for your cooperation.

Seahawk Talk

All parents and guardians are invited to our first virtual Seahawk Talk scheduled for September 10, 2024, at 6:30. Our topic will focus on Social Emotional Wellness and Student Resiliency. Our counselors and social worker will be facilitated the evening. Please join us in learning ways to support our child at home. Use this link to join.

Communication from School

Parents and Guardians will receive several types of communication from the school, below are ways you will be notified:

  • News You Choose is sent weekly on Friday. There will also be times when we want to call your attention to a specific event; in this case, it will go out on a different day.
  • E-notify is primarily for emergency use or to communicate information we want to ensure all parents receive such as information about illnesses in a specific class or a safety issue at school. E-notify will be sent as needed.
  • Grade Level Newsletters will be sent weekly by most grade levels. Grade levels will send information via email, Schoology, or hard copy. Check with your child’s teacher on what medium he/she is using.

Wednesday Folders contain school-related news and flyers; you may also find completed schoolwork.

What To Do When You Have Concerns Classroom

When you have concerns about a classroom issue please contact the teacher first. The teacher will be able to respond to your questions and address your concerns. Teachers are ready and willing to have conversations with you to problem solve issues.  If after you have contacted the teacher, you find that the issue has not been addressed you can reach out to one of the administrators.

Schoolwide

When you have concerns about a schoolwide issue; feel free to email the administrators [email protected] , [email protected] and [email protected] or call to make an appointment to speak with an administrator.

First Day of School

We had a fantastic first day of school. Students were engaged in building community and learning the new routines and procedures. They loved being back at school and enjoyed seeing their friends. Our building is alive with fun and learning!

Patience Please

As we embark on the new year, we are reteaching routines and procedures. We ask for your patience as students relearn processes. The first few days of school require a little more time for dismissal and moving through school.

Early Release Mondays

Please let us know your needs for early release Mondays. Use this QR code to submit your responses.

Arrival Procedures

Parents are invited to walk their children to the classroom on Wednesday.

  • Bus students will deboard and go straight to their classrooms.
  • Walker students should enter Door 12 and go to their classroom. If they arrive before 8:40 they will sit in the gym until the bell has rung. Kindergarten students are escorted by their instruction assistant.

Kiss and Ride students will exit their car and enter the gym. If they arrive before 8:40 they will sit in the gym until the bell has rung. Kindergarten students are escorted by their instructional assistant.

Dismissal Procedures
  • Bus students will be called to their bus after the bus has arrived at school. Until then, they remain in the classroom. Please encourage your child to walk directly to the bus loop when they are dismissed from class. Kindergarten students who ride the bus in the afternoon are to be met at the bus door and asked for by name by a parent, parent designee, guardian, or a responsible middle school-age or older sibling. Children will be returned to school if the driver has concerns for their safety.
  • Walker students are dismissed from Door 12. All kindergarten walkers must be met by an adult or middle school or older parent or designee. Students in grades 1-6 are free to walk themselves, and we are looking closely to match our first-grade students with their designated adult, older siblings can walk with younger siblings’ home (first-sixth grades).

Kiss and Ride students are housed in the gym until their car number is called. It would be helpful to the overall Kiss and Ride dismissal process if you stay in your car as students and adults learn the routine. The first few are always slower. We appreciate your patience.

Parent Vue Accounts

Call the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS). This will be answered by staff members from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Strategies Lab Parent Volunteers Needed

Can you offer a gift of time on Friday mornings? Strategies Lab begins next month! The strategies lab is a learning environment that develops critical habits of mind and thinking behaviors. The Lab also promotes risk-taking, social learning, and character development. The hands-on board games, puzzles, and brain activities used in the strategies lab not only improve sensory-motor and visual-spatial skills but also foster higher-level thinking abilities like questioning, problem solving, abstract reasoning, and ingenuity. Volunteers are needed to assist classroom teachers and to set-up, clean-up, and prepare the lab for the next class of students. Volunteers also assist with monitoring the activities and helping students learn the rules. The strategies lab is a great place to volunteer. Please reach out to Lauren McGovern with interest or questions at [email protected].

    Welcome Back to School!!

    Dear Silverbrook Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to a new and exciting school year at Silverbrook! As we prepare to embark on this journey together, we want to express our enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring a successful and enriching experience for your child.

Our primary focus is on fostering a learning environment where high expectations drive both academic and personal growth. We are dedicated to providing a rigorous curriculum that challenges students while nurturing their individual strengths. Our goal is to ignite a passion for learning that will serve them throughout their lives.

Equally important is our commitment to social-emotional wellness. We understand that children’s well-being significantly impacts their ability to learn and thrive. Our counselors, teachers, and support staff work collaboratively to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and heard.

Equity is at the core of all that we do. We believe in creating a learning environment where every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to succeed. We are continuously reviewing and improving our practices to ensure that each student receives the support they need to reach their full potential.

We are excited about the opportunities this year holds and look forward to partnering with you to support your child's education and well-being. Together, we can create a positive, equitable, and enriching school experience for all our students. Please read this communication carefully as it is full of pertinent information and opportunities.

We would like to invite you to Open House on Friday, August 16

    Student Passwords

You may have already or may soon receive an email regarding your child’s expiring password and the need to reset it.  Please disregard this.  It is standard for student passwords to expire after a calendar year.  No action is needed on your part.  When students return to school, teachers will work with their students to set a new password for the 2024-2025 school year.
